Ingredients
Cake:
  • ¼ cup cocoa (natural unsweetened)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
Icing:
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • ½ cup butter
  • 6 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 box powdered sugar (3¾ cup)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
Cake:
  1. Mix cocoa, water, and margarine in a large saucepan and bring to a rolling boil, remove from heat.
  2. Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl, then add the liquids and the cocoa mixture.
  3. Mix well and pour into a large ungreased cookie sheet with sides. Don’t completely scrape out the bowl and then use the same bowl for the icing.
Icing:
  1. Bring cocoa, butter, and milk to near boil, remove from heat.
  2. Sift powdered sugar into bowl, then add the cocoa mixture and vanilla, mix well.
  3. Pour over the hot cake.
