Texas Sheet Cake

Ingredients
Cake:
- ¼ cup cocoa (natural unsweetened)
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup margarine
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups flour
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Icing:
- 4 Tbsp. cocoa
- ½ cup butter
- 6 Tbsp. milk
- 1 box powdered sugar (3¾ cup)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
Cake:
- Mix cocoa, water, and margarine in a large saucepan and bring to a rolling boil, remove from heat.
- Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl, then add the liquids and the cocoa mixture.
- Mix well and pour into a large ungreased cookie sheet with sides. Don’t completely scrape out the bowl and then use the same bowl for the icing.
Icing:
- Bring cocoa, butter, and milk to near boil, remove from heat.
- Sift powdered sugar into bowl, then add the cocoa mixture and vanilla, mix well.
- Pour over the hot cake.
