Becky’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

Becky's Chocolate Chip Cookies
Recipe type: Dessert
  • ⅓ cup shortening
  • ⅔ cup butter
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 2½ cups flour
  • 1½ cups chocolate chips
  • ⅔ cup chopped walnuts
  1. Cream together the shortening, butter and both sugars. This means you need to get beyond just combining and let the friction from the sugar actually cut into the butter until the constancy is creamy. Then add eggs and vanilla. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix together. Then add soda, salt, and flour. Once that is combined let it mix about 30 seconds more before adding chocolate chips and nuts. Scoop onto cookie sheets (I lined mine with parchment paper for easier clean up and I don’t know if that made a difference) then cook in a pre-heated 350⁰ oven for 9-10 minutes. Let cool if you can stand it.
I cooked mine in a convection oven set at 325⁰ for 10 minutes. I don’t know if that helped with the final product or not.
